Session 1: Arkansas Department of Transportation Update
Presented by Jared Wiley, Director, Arkansas Department of Transportation
In this presentation Arkansas Department of Transportation Director Jared Wiley will present on highway improvements and technological advancement. Wiley will also provide an update on the Arkansas Commercial Truck Safety & Education Program.
Jared Wiley was selected by the Arkansas Highway Commission to serve as the director of the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) in January 2025.
Wiley began his career with the Department as an engineering student intern in Hot Springs prior to being hired in December 2005 as a civil engineer in the Planning and Research Division. Following an engineering career path, he advanced through several positions in the planning branch where he oversaw the Department’s traffic count and roadway inventory programs before becoming consultant coordinator in the deputy director and chief engineer’s office in July 2013.
Wiley was promoted to assistant division head of the transportation planning and policy division in January 2014. He became the division head of program management in May 2015, and in April 2020, he was appointed assistant chief Engineer for planning. In April 2023, he was promoted to chief engineer for preconstruction, a role he held until his appointment as director.
Session 2: Arkansas Crash Stats
Presented by Sergeant Greg Dycus, Highway Patrol Division Administration, Crash Reconstruction
In the second session, Sergeant Greg Dycus will present the crash statistics for Arkansas including motor vehicle motor vehicles and non-CMVs trends and share crash reduction strategies.
SMC Meeting Attendees Will
- understand how crashes are reported
- review post-crash procedures
Session 3: FMCSA Q&A
Presented by Eric Pearson, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
In the final session, Eric Pearson is FMCSA's federal program specialist for the Oklahoma division and acting specialist in the Arkansas and Florida divisions. He conducts compliance reviews and vehicle inspections, and he will be on hand to answer questions on the English Language Proficiency requirement, the National Registry II for medical card processing, CSA prioritization and other FMCSA regulations.

In order to provide proper accommodations, we must guarantee a headcount in advance.
For ATA members who submit meeting registration by the September 9 deadline and attend, there is no fee. ATA members who attend without registering or register but do not attend will be charged $25. Out of courtesy, if you decide to attend after the registration deadline, please contact ATA. We welcome guests and non-members to Council meetings for $50.
